bright full moon on christmas eve...

the full moon was hanging in the sky last nite...caught it coincidentally while i was at the floating pontoon...had gone to the floating pontoon of Tonle Sap just before sunset yesterdae....it was christmas eve...and i would like some quiet time alone...

the tourist boat from siem reap to phnom penh...crowded!!!

on 23 dec...i took a boat from siem reap to phnom penh...the boat ride along tonle sap took 5 hrs...and we were baked under the sun from 7.30 am to 12.30pm...most of the tourists sat on the roof or front of the boat....as the inside of the boat was too caustrophobic for some....the window panes were tinted w yellow cellophane paper....so the whole boat looked orange!!! hahhaha.....i was at the front when the boat departed....after an hour on the front...when much of the scenery is gone....though on the river...it seems that the boat is out in the ocean....there is nothing except the horizon...i went inside to sleep for one hour....when some vegatation appeared...i went to the bow of the boat again....a group of farangs were sitting on the front of the boat smoking n drinking...it was so windy as the boat was travelling at some speed...but the group of farangs never give up in lighting up their cigarettes....they used watever means to ignite their cigarettes....i m not impressed by their effort....they brought a whole box of angkor beer onboard to drink too....wat a sight....i was on the front of the boat until the boat reached phnom penh....believe me...it was hot!!! i was burnt!!! but i dun wan to go inside as i dun wan to miss out on any beautiful scenery....hahhaa......

the boat arrived at phnom penh at 12.30pm...we were greeted by a sea of tuk tuk drivers asking if we needed tuk tuk....it was chaotic...imagine we were still on the boat but the tuk tuk drivers are trying to get u to board their tuks tuks...they were aggressive!!! hahaha......luckily we had arranged for a tuk tuk driver when we were in siem reap....it was easily to spot our tuk tuk driver....as he had a paper w my friend's name.....the place where we disembarked is right next to the floating pontoon where the tragic dragonboat accident happened one month ago...i could recognise that....the water looks calm.....

yesterdae...it was christmas eve... i visited the central market....bought 5 stalks of white crysanthemum and walked to the tonle sap....followed the river and found the floating pontoon just before sunset....walked down to the floating pontoon....the water looks calm....but the water was moving quite fast....i could tell when i saw branches with leaves moving very fast towards the pontoon.....one by one....i threw the flowers into the pontoon.......no matter how far i threw....the flowers got swept to under the pontoon within seconds.....

the moon was much bigger than wat u see on the picture...that is the biggest zoom my camera can do...

the sky was dark by then.....i walked back....n caught this big round orange eye yolk hanging low in the sky incidentally....i thot it was the sun setting as it was hanging so low n so orange....i went to the titanic restaurant which was just next to the pier and floating pontoon....wanted to find some place to sit down n write some postcards.....i checked the menu...n decided to have some finger food...though there is a special christmas buffet for USD19...i did not go for it...as i already had noodles at the central market....so i ordered fried spring rolls and chocolate ice cream shake...4 fried spring rolls for USD2...and the ice cream shake for USD2....n i sat there admiring the moon!!!yes..it was a moon n not sun....the moon was rising higher and higher into the sky....casting reflection on the river....nice!!! but then the mosquitoes were attacking my legs....i thot i could not tahan for long....but i wanna sit there longer....so i applied my axe oil from singapore.....it works!!! hahhaha....i could sit there long enough to write my postcards without feeling itchy n need to scratch....hhhaaa......titanic restaurant is actually a restaurant....but then i went there in slippers n singlet n bermudas....hahhaa.....after i had written enough postcards....i made my exit quietly....n took a motobike back to the lakeside where i stayed....so i had a really good x'mas eve with the mosquitoes and the full moon....hehhee.....

the moon moved higher n higher while i was sitting in front of it...

my meal at titanic restaurant...i was feeding myself for the mosquitoes to feed me...

this morning...i saw on CNN that the moon is actually nearest to earth since 23 dec...no wonder it looked so big....the next time this would happen again would be 9 years later....wow...so lucky that i caught it!!!! and so that was my nice, peaceful, quiet christmas eve....

still very fascinated by wat i have seen at the cambodian border before the customs office...i made my way to the customs office...there are no children or beggars approaching me....instead...this guy came to ask if we needed a taxi to go to siem reap....he quoted us USD 30 for the 3hrs ride to siem reap...my korean friend has told me that private taxi would cost USD 35...best if can get 4 persons into a taxi so that can share cost....the guy kept following us...though we did not make any commitment.....we wanted to cross the border first....the cambodian border is on the right side of the road.....it is a small building....like an entry to an underpass only....very low key.....there are 3 man working behind the glass panes at the border...but only one queue.....luckily...it was not crowded....and there are only tourists at the border....not chaotic at all....and i feel is actually quite safe....but i m still very careful w my valuables after that horrible theft at laos border...the border crossing was quite smooth except that the immigrattion officer is unable to scan the bar code of my passport after trying many many times....he had to key the numbers in manually....crossed the border successfully!!! and walked out to look for private taxi to siem reap....i must say the area after the cambodian border is very very dusty....the roads are dirt roads....n when heavy vehicles or push carts crossed...the cloud of dust lingers in the air.......

arrived in cambodia on 18 dec 2007 at 11.30 a.m...

had crossed the border from thailand...actually departed from bangkok...my thai friend...tum had sent me to the mochit northern bus station in bangkok early in the morning at 6am on 18 dec...had bought the 7am bus ticket to the thai border town of aranya prathet the day before...the bus from bangkok travelled for 4 hours before i reached the thai border town of aranya prathet...the bus stopped a few times to pick up and alight passengers...i was sleeping on n off throughout the bus ride and wake up once the bus stopped....at aranya prathet...once we alighted at 11am....there are many tuk tuks waiting to bring people to the thai border which is 6km away...each tuk tuk costs 80 baht according to my korean friend....i also asked a tuk tuk driver to confirm...and it is indeed 80 baht.....when the tuk tuk reached the border...it actually stopped at 100 m away from the border...the tuk tuk driver called out to a guy to inform about his "prey"....the guy ran up to ask if we needed visa to cambodia....we told no need....he asked where are we from...we told that we are from singapore....then he asked us if we want to fill up some forms over at his tent...we told "no"....we would cross the border on our own....he said....u sure u want to cross by yourselves???....we said ..yes....if we go to his tent....means he would get $$$$ from us later.....my korean friend has warned me against this scam already.....and it is happening exactly how my korean friend describe to me......when we leave...we saw some farangs filling up the visa forms at his sheltered tent....wonder how much more the farangs are gg to pay for their visa.....the tuk tuk driver actually wanted to charged me 100 baht...but i said the previous tuk tuk driver at the same place which we came from already told me is 80 baht....i said it should be 80 baht...and passed him my money which i have already prepared exactly.....he had nothing to say....and so we make our way to the border...the border is on the left side of the path...surprisingly there r not much tourists at the thai border at that time...may be many are still on their way...the clearance was quite fast...

once we are crossed the thai border....the kingdom of cambodia greeted us...immediately...u can see street children...a lot of huge push carts...children...adults...are busy pushing the push carts....the children are in dirty clothes...some are not in any clothes...the cambodian people are busy at the border!!!on the other hand....new modern buildings...which are actually hotels and casinos formed the backdrop....wat an irony and mismatch!!!!!cambodia is a whole new whole!!!!

am in a internet cafe in siem reap...waiting for my fotos to be downloaded so that i can burn them in CDs..memory card is full after 3 days of angkor wat temples visit...there is only one shop which i can burn CDs in siem reap...that is opposite Neak Pean Hotel along Savitha road...went to ask how much it would cost to burn a CD...the lady said USD 3...i said i have 1 CD of my own and how much would it cost...she did not reply me...my memory card is 2G...n i need at least 3 CDs...which would be USD9....the shop dun sell DVDs....in the end....i decided not to burn at that shop...walked further down...n found a supermarket...there are blank CDs selling at USD0.65 at the supermarket...so i bought 2....in fact the last 2 CDs on display....in case i reallie to back up my fotos at phnom penh where i would be going tmlo....then i walked further...n found this huge internet cafe...on the door...it says...call..scan...fax...burn CDs...i went to ask how much it costs to burn CDs...and told i have my own CDs...the guy at work asked if i m burning myself...i said yes...then he said then i have to use the internet for rate of USD0.75 per hour...i am thinking...why not???....so here i m...using the internet to burn CDs...at the same time...i can update my long lost blog....

i m here in melbourne now...supposedly the most livable city....took an 1 hr flight from adelaide to melbourne this afternoon.....melbourne is much more bustling than adelaide which is very much a sleeping town...went to chinatown just now for dinner....every now and then in australia....i have a craving for noodle soup....cos the staple here is mainly bread...to eat chinese food....i haf to go to chinatown....ate a bowl of hot and spicy noodles from Noodle King....AUD7.50...and the bowl is huge....there are a lot of noodles.....think even the australians cannot finish that serving size alone....i saw a lot of left overs.....hiak.....but then it was good.....fulfiled my craving......

arrived at sibu at nite...we wanted to stay in the hostel at the methodist church but the church was closed for renovation when we were there...so we stayed in the locals' hostel as recommended by the cab driver...x'mas eve's dinner was at sugar bun...ate fried chicken...my treat!!!...
sean treated me to dessert...my cake on the right costs 5 times more than his chocolate ball...sean gives the best to me...hahaha....

this was how the left sole of my trekking boots hang when i was in seria, brunei...
sent it for repair when we were in kota kinabalu, sabah...
the cobbler was very skilful...he applied very powerful glue to seal the sole back before stitching the sides...the stitches were very neat too....like macine stitches....and he helped me to stitch up the other side too...tink the other side oso on the verge of falling off liao....
after the stitching....they were as good as new....if not better..with the extra stitching....
my trekking shoes were working very well during my mount K climb...phew...
worth it man!!!

my trekking boots are repaired...sent them for repair todae at kota kinabalu...the soles were glued and sewn back....all for RM25...the sewing looks good....hopefullie can last...at least for the summit to mount K....tolong tolong.....hehehehe.....sean oso sewn back the lobang on his shimano boots for RM3....

reached kota kinabalu after a 3hrs bumpy boat ride from labuan....the tv was playing chinese movie huo yuan jia.....but i could not watch....haf to close my eyes and try to sleep throughout the ride....else i tink i would puke wor.....glad i survived the boat ride without puking....but the boat ride left us w a headache ah....

staying at borneo backpackers lodge tonite....very nice lodge...homely!!!!

in brunei now....would be taking a boat to labuan later....then bus to kota kinabalu tmlo....and big climb to mount kinabalu on last day of 2006...to catch first sunrise of 2007....been eating a lot lately....hopefullie i can climb wor....n my trekking boots of 7 years is broken...oh my god....the left sole came off halfway yesterdae....when i just reached seria, brunei....it came off in the rain....sob....tink the rain did not do my boots any good.....the sole is jus halfway from being detached from my shoe....hope i can get it repaired in kota kinabalu...hiak....bought the trekking boots 7 years ago for trekking in nepal....after that i never use it again....this time i brought it for Mount K....and it is broken....serve me right for neglecting my boots for the past 7 years....i would not blame him if he decided to leave me now....if cannot fix the boots in KK....then may be haf to buy kampong adidas for the mount K climb....hahhahaa.......

after being let into the room...deyu was shocked and stunned at how beautiful cynthia is...and he forgot to kneel down....and then cynthia....in her beautiful bridal gown n make up...blurted spontaneously, “为什么你没有跪下来的？”

ohhhhh yeah!!!!!!!finallie finished my agonising 5000 word assignment...right after i submitted my assignment, i realized i could not spell properly over msn n while typing this entry....wah lau....the due date is 13 dec....i submitted on 14 dec at 2 am....aiyooo......drank 4 cans or red bull over 3 nitesto complete the assignment...3 thai red bull and 1 ole italian energy drink...the ole drink was recommended by the mama shop uncle...he told it is more bitter...less sweet than thai red bull....but after that i would still get the kick.....wow hoo......yeah man....i definitely need the extra kick from energy drinks when comes to doing assignments.....piang....no more deadlines until jan....n i m not going to do any more academic stuff this yr liao...it's PARTY time!!!!!!!!!!

had a very jolly time last week during the 5 days AEPS course at riverview hotel....sat w jean and betty for 3 days out of 5 days....n we r always giggling...hehehe....the course is good...the trainers from USA are beautiful....enjoy looking at them....the food served was good too....n we are always sleepy after lunch.... from left....betty...jean...n dr uttam...
on thursday...2nd last day of the course...jean asked me to bring my camera to take photo w the beautiful trainers....
so on the last day....we took photo with the trainers...hehehe...i was standing beside the most beautiful one....dr pretti...her name is pretti..no wonder so pretty lahhhh....

watched the korean movie...old boy...in chungju, south korea...on korean frenz, fat boy's pc...he downloaded it for me to watch at USD5...initially i could not really understand the movie as the movie is in korean...fat boy translated some parts for me...but still it was hard for me to understand...i love the music very much...especially the piece...The LAst Waltz...i was in kunming...where there are a lot of pirated DVDs on sale...i managed to find old boy dvd and bought it home...i haf been searching for the original soundtrack in china & singapore but i jus could not find...went to hmv, singapore to ask...but the title was launched 2 yrs ago...so considered old stock...and is out of the store already...if i reallie want...i would haf to place an order...i didn't order it...

some time back...i watched old boy again on my laptop...that time i could understand the movie better as there are chinese subtitles (dvd from china) though the language is still in korean....missed the piece...The Last Waltz...i can listen to it non stop....though it sounds a bit sad.....

asked my korean frenz, fat boy to send me...and recently he sent me....finallie i can listen to it again....

My korean friend, Monica, who is living in Singapore is going to open an educational agency in Singapore for international students from Korea. She is working in partnership with her korean friend, Kang Kyung Hua. Together, they are recruiting potential tutors or full time teachers for their educational agency. If there is a demand for full time teachers at their educational agency in the future, they may be hiring teachers who can work full time under their agency. The tutors or teachers would have to provide tuition to the Korean students (Pri 3 to Sec 3), with subjects ranging from English, Maths and Science. this entry is dedicated to my tongba frenz...amlesh, pankoj, shrestha whom i met at a nepalese restaurant in chabahil...one late nite....at about 9pm...it was quite late in nepal as most of the shops would be closed by 9pm....i finished using the internet at the internet cafe...had to leave as the internet cafe was closing....so i left and went in search for food...haven had my dinner yet...if i go back to my room i would have nothing to eat...luckily there is still one restaurant which is opened but looks almost closing....it says momo restaurant on its signboard....i went in and asked if there was momo...i wanna haf momo...the nepalese gal told no more momo...only haf chow mian...disappointed...i walked out hoping to find momo at another place but think my chance was very slim...so in the end i decided to go back to the momo restaurant and asked for chow mian and a cup of tea....while waiting for my chow mian to be cooked...i was wondering wat the 3 guys in front of me were drinking...there are a lot of berry like pea size beads filling up the whole mug....the pea sized berry looked-a-like beads looked tasty....i thot can eat one....so i asked the restaurant owner what are they drinking but she could not reallie communicate in english....the guys who were drinking told me that is a kind of tibetan drink called tongba....hmmm....tibetan drink...i like....so i oso ordered one to try...my tongba came...and i boldly took a sip....took one sip...and realized it is alcohol....oops....ohhh....then i told i dun drink alcohol and would like to give up my drinks to the 3 guys who are enjoying the drink so much....the 3 guys were laughing....and actuallie the "beads" cannot be eaten one....hahahaha.....so i found out wat is tongba...and made 3 tongba frenz....introduced my tongba frenz to sean and sk when they returned to nepal too...the above foto was taken when we were about to leave nepal...having nepalese hot tea by the road side....it was very cold....but it was very memorable.....

many baby monkeys were born at bukit timah hill recently...saw many of them...though young but already jumping from branches to branches...never afraid to fall...even if they fall...they do not cry...they were especially cute when they clinged on to their mothers' body... rajendra commented that singapore's monkeys are different from nepalese monkeys...and he reminded me of the monkeys of monkey temple in nepal...

we went up to bukit timah hill on an early sat morning...the trekkers up singapore's himalayas includes sean, sean's father, lai yee and my new nepalese friend, rajendra...rajendra is my nepalese friend's nephew and he has arrived in singapore 4 days ago to study here...though we had spoke on the phone and exchanged sms...but i have not met him before until yesterday...i brought him up singapore's highest point which is nothing compared to the real himalayas...

met shuhui training at bukit timah hill too...with a huge backpack filled with bottles full of water...long time no see her and din know that she is working at obs too..she was training w obs for their tahan trip end of the year...met other obs friends of sean and mine too...small world indeed...hmmm....i should start carrying my backpack up bukit timah hill too...else i would suffer terribly when climbing up mount K end of the year....time to move my lazy bum...which has so much inertia...

my 3rd real run...missed the real run last year...the previous 2 real runs were nike real runs...first real run i did not sign up so i din get the dri fit nike tee...2nd real run i signed up but the not-so dri fit nike tee was too big...so i sent to sean who was already on his cycling trip...glad that he made full use of the nike shirt and even survived a fall in that shirt...

after the real run todae...all of us were in uniform...and even the food and drinks we ordered at seah im hawker centre were in uniform too...hehehee....group photo before we buried our faces into our lor mee...cynthia was commenting that sometimes it is good to have guys around...hehee...cos the gentlemen helped us ordered the food and we dun have to move our butts at all....hehhehe....i totally agree!!!!the kind gesture was especially important to us then as we were tired and dun wan to move anymore...hehehehe...appreciate that....thanks to the kind gentlemen!!!!

had our debut s3a BBQ at east coast park on 12 aug at area C pit 12...which is not very near to the MacDonalds' area...had to walk quite far...and cynthia kanna suan-ed the whole nite for booking pit no 12 instead of 13...as pit 13 is 300 meters nearer to MacDonalds as compared to pit 12....hahaha...it was small affair i would say...less than 10 of us....yixin, yaling, jason, winston, lishan, ah teck and me...cynthia and deyu joined us later...it was a good gathering...with good food...hehehehe....hope next time more can join...

it has been a long time since i last had a BBQ...missed those chao da carbon coated food a bit....and the caterer which we catered our food from did not provide hotdogs...hotdogs have always been my fav staple food during BBQs....especially hotdogs with blisters...hahhaha....

was there to chop space physically with my butt and 2 ponchos at 6.50pm...there were a lot of people already but madelyn and i managed to get a decent space at the grass patch by the breakwater...madelyn went suntec and i was there alone guarding the space while waiting for rest to come...monica was first to find me after much searching...she told it was my white spectacles which gave me away...hahhaa...found lishan, madelyn and zhonghui at the same time...near the ice cream man...hahhaa....the ice cream man was a good landmark...it was 8 plus already and it was dark and crowded...luckily i was working near city hall and did not have to mangle with crowd to get to where i was...the network was very busy too...the greeting for every phone call to me was "where are you?"....the rest din manage to find us...they were somewhere in the crowd watching the fireworks together though...for those whom make it to the poncho in time...the view was good...the fireworks fired right in front of our faces...at 9pm when the fireworks already started...henry called to ask where were we..told him to stay wherever he was to enjoy the fireworks at that moment...

after the fireworks...sean and his mama appeared...followed by henry and xinhui...found heyu too..huiqing also found us...hahhahaaa....and we gathered at the poncho...after that, henry, xinhui, huiqing, lishan, heyu, sean and i headed for marina K-Box for KTV....hehehehe.....

anita and stefan and their tandem bicycle...some wondered wat was inside...is it a boat??? qantas airways was very kind to waive the excess baggage charge for anita and stefan...they did not have much problems....and there was a special belt for the odd size luggage...it was rolled down via a big opening...i wish i can roll down the same path too...direct to brisbane...hahhaha....they hand carried their guitar as it would be too fragile...
andreas was not so lucky...thai airways gave him some problems....he wanted to check in most of his luggage and he had 30 kg extra...thai airways wanted him to pay S$70 for each extra kg...dat would easily amount to S$2000...piang....can get another air tic with dat amount....in the end he could only checked in his bicycle and he had to hand carry rest of his panniers....he is travelling alone w many hand carry....but he can do it....finallie group photo after everything was settled...phew....

activated uncle ten's lorry to transport anita's, stefan's and andreas's luggage from their guesthouse in little india to the airport...it was the first time i sat at the back of an open lorry in the rain...that's me braving the rain at travelling speed of 80km per hour along ECP towards the airport...and i was aunty enuff to use plastic bag to cover my head...though there were many cars along the highway...hahhaa...but i dun care....together w me at the back of the lorry were stefan, andreas and sean...in the end..i shifted to sit beside sean to shield from the bitterly cold wind...cosy!!! anita and stefan haf a tandem bicycle and a luggage trolley which they tied to the back of their tandem bicycle when they cycle...they had packed their tandem bicycle and trolley into 2 boxes...on top of their luggage they oso have a guitar...incredible!!!....they were praying hard that qantas airways would waive their extra baggage charge as their combined weight limit was only 50 kg....and they have odd size luggage some more...must pray v hard...

trying to use 2 trolleys to transport the tandem bicycles to the check it counter...but it proved to be v challenging...and in the end they gave up on the trolley and hand carried the tandem bicycle in the box to the check in counter instead...a lot of tandem required here...sean folding the groundsheets after unloading...the groundsheets were wet....so were we...but it was fun la!!!...hahaha.....

on 9 july...we rushed back from malacca after the perak rafting trip...with stopover at JB city square for sean's pantry's shopping and lunch at sushi king...the international youth hostel in malacca costs RM 30 for one night and has 3 beds...clean and huge room with attached bathroom...had wanton mee for breakfast and took the public bus 17 near the hostel to the malacca bus station...it was the first time i took the local feeder bus in malaysia...we made in time to send our austrian and swiss frenz off to brisbane and zurich respectively...

watched the soong sisters on tv last sat nite..though i had watched at the movie theatre before...that was many years back and i remembered i watched it with lifang...and i also remembered i teared at some scenes...it was a good movie...that's y i decided to stay up to watch it again...usually i would fall asleep halfway while watching tv....but amazingly i managed to stay up til 1.30am without missing any part....the movie gave me a good recap of the history of china after qing dynasty was overthrown....about the revolution...and how the nationalist and communist parties came about...the touching scenes are that of the kinship between the sisters and between the sisters and their parents....still brought me to tears....i dun mind watching it again and again....

still have a lot of dvds and vcds about the historical events like korean war, vietnam war, WWII, cultural revolution....all china import which i haf yet to haf time to watch....been hearing so much about the cultural revolution in china too...hope i can have time to watch the cultural revolution vcd soon....may be 2 years later???

during my lower sec history class...i was never so interested in history...but now i m very keen to know wat had happened in the past to shape wat is happening todae and wat is going to happen tmlo....

when i was in harbin last winter, i visited one historial site despite the cold...it was -12 degrees at least and i braved the cold to go find the historical site...is called 731部队。。。at 平房。。。about 45mins bus ride from harbin...i almost froze during the bus ride...my feet was numb while on the bus cos there was an opening and cold wind was blowing at my feet....managed to find the place after some directions from the locals and walking around in the cold....i went there alone but luckily there was a chinese group who was already there and i followed the group and the guide which gave explanations of the exhibits....else it could be quite a scary experience viewing the exhibits alone....the place is actuallie a germ warfare research centre which the japanese set up during WWII and they used life humans as research samples...it was really cruel....many chinese had suffered and died in the that place unnaturally.....hearing about the cruelty and being at the place where the cruel acts were being carried out really made my hair stands....luckily i had the company of the chinese group....after the visit the whole chinese group boarded the same tour bus except me....think then they realized i was not part of their group...but i appreciate their company...after that i went back to harbin alone the cold...there wasn't anything much to explore in 平房。。。but i was glad to see a school nearby and i stood there watching the children learning how to ice skate though it was freezing cold....i took a bus back to harbin soon after cos the sky would turn dark at 4.30pm...

it was my 2nd time rafting in the kampar river...remembered i had a certificate from the first trip but this time no haf lehhh....but this time...the river has more water...so the raft can move faster and no need to paddle so much...hehehe...the previous trip..i had bought along francis's digital camera with casing..that's why took more photos as compared to this trip...lemme find back the old photos...been more than a year ago...fast!!!

my dutch colleague, victorine's brother's family came to singapore for 3 weeks holiday...victorine was so excited prior to their arrival...she was telling me and counting down to their arrival...i also felt excited for her...it was finallie happening that her brother's family is coming to singapore...victorine brought them to the office...i was expecting them since morning...and thay reached office at 11.45am...together w the big double stroller which has some storage problem...so happy to meet the dutch family...and the children are reallie adorable...the second child likes monica very much...cheek to cheek when taking photos...hehehe.....

i must say my korean colleague, monica, is truly brave!!! and i witnessed her bravery one day...

one fine day after lunch...only monica and i were in office...suddenly monica came to my desk and looked at my desk..she grabbed the calendar on my desk and asked if that is mine, i told, "yes"..she asked if she can borrow it..i told, "sure"...then she grabbed the calendar and hurried back to her desk... i was a bit puzzled and went to take a look...to my horror...monica was trying to subdue a cockcoach...the cockcoach tried to escape and monica was v determined to give chase...i am v scared of cockcoach...so i did not go too near to the slaughter scene....instead i was standing 500 metres away looking at how brave monica was...my calendar proved useless and monica had thrown it one side already...instead she was armed with her new shoe which she bought from korea...it was a very farnie scene....farnie cos i was so scared of cockcoach and standing so far...and on the other hand...monica is so brave in the front line against the cockcoach...monica was armed w her shoe in one hand trying to fight it all out w the cockcoach...i can see that monica was scared too..may be scared is not the appropriate word..i tink she was more disgusted than scared by the creature...cos could tell from her face...and she was quite comical during the process of killing the cockcoach...the cockcoach tried to escape wor...but still it was not fast enough for monica's flying shoe!!!...in the end...monica's shoe went crushing on it...and phew!!!victory!!!monica was also brave enuff to 收尸。。。i was truly impressed!!!

only then i dared to go over to monica to congratulate her!!!cos she killed the cockcoach successfully...i kept telling monica that she was so brave...she is a brave woman...told her i was very scared of cockcoach...luckily she was in the office...she saved my life!!!monica shared that last time...before she was married...she was also very afraid of cockcoach...but after marriage when she became a mother...she has to be brave to kill the cockcoach as her son would eat the cockcoach when he saw them...she had no choice but to kill the cockcoach w her hands immediatley...cos very emergency...however she told that korean cockcoach is very small...unlike singaporean cockcoach...she told singaporean cockcoach is very big...never see before such big ones...

next day..monica showed me what she had written in her diary...
Today i killed a big cockcoach in office with my shoe. It was just behind me walking around without any fear.
I hate cockcoach. So i could not forgive it to walk around just behind my chair. Compared to korean cockcoach, S'pore's cockcoach is much bigger so it is disgusting. In fact, i can live with a lizard but i cannot live with a cockcoach. My husband chases away a cockcoach when he saw it. But i try to kill it. Sometimes i kill it but sometimes i cannot kill it because it moves so fast.
Tun Ling is scared of it. She said I am brave. She is single. If she gets married, she will become brave. She must protect her family and food from cockcoaches.

hahahahaaa.....ehhhhh....not too sure if i would be brave after marriage....hahhahhaaa.....

went jogging with kezia and regina along esplanade area...actuallie it was a lovely place to jog but i admit i m not disciplined enuff to jog regularly...luckily haf some frenz working nearby to provide me with some reason to go jogging....though i haf a very valid reason to exercise...which is to lose weight and eat more....but sometimes i choose to ignore that....hehhee....hiak!!!....haf to jog more so that i can eat more and not risk becoming too huge for my existing clothes....

on wedneday...

went to little india...23 roberts lane...to meet up with an austrian couple whom haf reached singapore on tandem bicycle....anita and stefan haf been cycling on their double bicycles since September 2004...sean had met them in islamabad, pakistan in may 2005 during his cycling trip...they haf started from their home in austria and singapore is their 17th country...still going strong and no time frame of when to return home...so good to meet them and listen to their adventures....such cheerful and fun-loving couple....they are living my dream lahhh....and i am always happy to see people doing what i dreamt of doing....

my dutch colleague, victorine and her french husband, sylvain, came to bedok reservoir on race day 1 to support...it was a very hot day....however when they arrived...the last race for the day was over....victorine confessed that she was sleeping and was not busy with housework and cleaning....

besides supporters from europe...sean also brought rob to bedok reservoir....rob is a canadian cyclist whom have been cycling around the world for 4.5 years....sean had met him in kyrgyzstan...and he had cycled to singapore on his alloy steeds...amazing person...he has peddled to so many places and still peddling... he had cycled across russia in winter...with temperature of -40 degrees...even his can of coke froze and he tried to place the can of coke under his arm pit hoping that it could be defrozed....at the same time telling himself it was very fun in such madness...that's the spirit!!!....he had left singapore for batam then sumatra and other indonesia islands...then australia then new zealand....he wants to return home(canada) for christmas this year after spending 4 christmas-es away from home...hope he would reach home in time for christmas....have a safe journey back!!!!all the way!!!!

for the first time in many years since we graduated, we had new faces in our class gathering...who is shirley and jialing!!!...warmest welcome to them!!!and it has been a while since the no. of gals present in our jc class gathering out numbered the no. of guys...remembered in our last class gathering...i was the onli gal present...kanna dua...this time we had 5 gals and onli 2 guys...lawrence...u missed out on jialing and shirley this time...

after our steamboat dinner at new 7th storey hotel...we went to this cafe at liang seah street if i din remember wrongly...to haf a drink n some chit chat...hehehehehe...our next gathering would be 2 months later....bbq at east coast park...organised by cynthia....hehehe....looking forward to that....hope more new faces would come....

it all started with last fridae...when my holland colleague, victorine, decided that she wanted to buy cheese cake from coffee bean to celebrate fridae...hahahahha.....so at 11plus on a fridae...victorine, monica (my korean colleague) and i were "partying" away in office with cheesecake and cookie...we decided that we must have weekly fridae celebration...hahhahaa....

from AIG...a S$600 cheque...wow!!!....in payment for the claim for the flight delay at Lukla aiport, Nepal and the theft at Laos border....it was a pleasant surpise...reallie...thot my claims would be unsuccessful as i filed them very late, 4 months after i returned home....jus when i needed money, it came....ahhhh.......thanks AIG!!!
